Since the video was removed from YouTube, here's an alternate link:

I had just heard the original of this yesterday afternoon, a few hours prior to being linked to the JPJ version. Keeping in mind that this is a spoof of a satire, what do you guys think? (watch the original on youtube -- Incredibad: "I'm On a Boat" -- first if you haven't seen it.. that group is the creative force behind the recent SNL digital shorts)

There seems to be some minor drama from the SailorBob/SWO forum community, with people split between the "lighten up and don't take life too seriously" crowd and the "Naval officers are professionals before everything else" mentality. There's also more than a few of the "non-qual JO's should be studying before having any fun" mindset.

Is this simply an unprofessional and irreverent reflection of Gen Y culture, or a playful expression of creativity? Do you think this reflects positively on the USN to a casual viewer?

I personally don't see an issue with it. I thought it was great. I can see how it might be an issue for some due to the language used. I don't think it reflects any worse than the spoof on the Navy recruiting ads that came out a couple of years ago.
